COUNTY
Berea,
the Folk Arts & Crafts Capital of Kentucky, is situated in southern Madison
County near the edge of central Kentucky's Blue Grass
Region. The city is located 39 miles south of Lexington,
Kentucky; 113 miles southeast of Louisville, Kentucky; and
132 miles north of Knoxville, Tennessee.
Berea's
reputation as a craft center is international - one of
quality, of authentic skills, and carefully preserved
Appalachian heritage. The handcrafts are Berea's major
tourist attraction. Many craft shops and galleries are open
to the public in Berea, including shops owned by
organizations as well as private individuals. In addition,
numerous antique outlets are located in Berea.
